There is an interesting Notes Q within the elevated second section of Test6 that if you have not organically encountered yet, we can bring it a bit to life here. Imagine that the sentence below is the first sentence within a Notes Q. Read the sentence and then see what you think of the subsequent answer options.
The student wants to highlight McThurman’s primary achievement.
There is no intended correct answer here.
current priority level - the Path to 600+ and higher
From reading the hypothetical first sentence, we know that we want an answer option that articulates the person’s “primary achievement”. So far, things feel like a routine Notes Q.
When we read option (A), it could seem like her primary achievement is developing “a new type of composite polymer”. So, this is our answer, right? But….
When we read option (B), we could think that the primary achievement is how “a key part in most machines” was replaced. When we read option (C), we could think that its the “greater degree of efficiency” that we’ve been looking for. Getting to option (D), we could think that it actually is the synthesized “alloy” that revolutionized things that is the primary achievement we’ve been looking for.
So, what is the interesting thing that we were alluding to from the start of this QOTD? If after reading through the answer options to a Notes Q, there is more than one option that seems possible, we are in the less-common Notes Q circumstance of actually reading the notes that are given to us on the left.
On the Path to a 550+, it sort of does not matter if we are aware of what we’re talking about here, partly because, very simply, we have more breathing room. On a Path to 600+, it’s on our radar that we could encounter a Notes Q like we are describing here. Many good things ahead.✨
